Before you start …
Permission to construct a dock is required by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority. In addition, depending on the scale of the proposal and where the proposed dock is to be located, permission may also be required from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and/or the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Once permission is granted, docks (sizes), types and configurations are then regulated via the North Frontenac Township’s Zoning By-law. In order to have a dock you need to own the shore road allowance in front of your property, excluding a post dock that is in compliance with By-Law #65-19 at https://www.northfrontenac.com/en/township-services/resources/Documents/By-Laws/Docks-on-Township-Property.pdf
