KLA UPDATE: FOCA’s Campaign

Opposing the Elimination of the Ontario Seasonal Rate Class for Electricity

Dear member,

I am writing you to inform you of the Federation of Ontario Cottage Association’s (FOCA) campaign opposing the elimination of the Ontario Seasonal Rate Class for electricity, which predicts hydro rates increasing by as much as $54 more each month on seasonal cottage property hydro bills. As a KLA member, you may have already received a letter from FOCA in the mail.

The KLA Board unanimously voted to support FOCA in this matter and has sent an email to Randy Hillier, MPP who represents Kashwakamak Lake. Please take the time to read through the information and make an informed decision as to whether or not you would also like to take action.

Here is the link to FOCA’s website which provides an overview of the situation: https://foca.on.ca/electricity-pricing/

This link provides information about FOCA’s call to action: https://foca.good.do/fair_electricity_pricing/fair-electricity-pricing/

This link provides some Hydro One information: https://foca.on.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Hydro-One-Notice_Elimination_of_Seasonal_Rates-Feb-8-2021.pdf

Thank you for taking time to read this information. Please don’t hesitate to contact Don Cory, membership@kashwakamak.ca if you have any questions around your KLA Membership.

Best regards,

Gordon Hunter
