For those of you who missed the July AGM and/or would like to see it again, you can access the MVCA’s presentation regarding the Kashwakamak Lake Dam project here.

 

Thursday, May 23, 2024,   4pm to 6 pm

The MVCA and their consultants EGIS hosted a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) on May 23, 2024 on the status of the Kashwakamak Dam Environmental Assessment Study.  The information presented was an updated version of what was put before the Citizens Liaison Committee in February.  Among members of the public who attended were Mayor Lichty, another KLA member and lake resident, and myself.  I expect a full participant list will be published later. The following notes summarize new information including answers to questions raised by the participants

The Kashwakamak Lake Association (KLA) acts to monitor the health of the lake and its ecosystems, monitor lake issues such as taxes, interface with Municipal Council, organize community events and keep all resident (seasonal and year-round) informed of important developments.

Areas of interest include the environment, water safety, public health, lake stewardship and member education. Issues on which we have lobbied include: market value assessment, lakefront purchase, proxy voting and municipal services.
