KLA Update: Part 2 – Shoreline Health

You may recall that in our spring posting on Shoreline Health, we encouraged you to complete a short self-assessment
of the health of your shoreline. In Part 2 of our focus on Shoreline Health, we wanted to briefly highlight WHY one of
the most important contributions a cottage owner can make to Kashwakamak Lake is to create and maintain a natural
shoreline vegetation buffer – or a “Ribbon of Life.”

The Kashwakamak Lake Association (KLA) acts to monitor the health of the lake and its ecosystems, monitor lake issues such as taxes, interface with Municipal Council, organize community events and keep all resident (seasonal and year-round) informed of important developments.

Areas of interest include the environment, water safety, public health, lake stewardship and member education. Issues on which we have lobbied include: market value assessment, lakefront purchase, proxy voting and municipal services.
